In the future, the survivability of Camp Cooley Ranch® and our customers depends on our ability to adapt and to take advantage of the changing face of the beef industry. Our vision includes an industry where it is no longer enough for a seedstock supplier to provide the best genetics possible. The supplier must assist in integrating the germplasm purchased into a meaningful system that maximizes the return on investment through both management and genetic selection. Genetic suppliers of the past must become the service suppliers of the future.

In the past year, we have seen unprecedented consumer demand for beef. We have recorded the highest prices ever seen for finished cattle and feeder calves. To succeed and continue those price trends, Camp Cooley and our customers must continue to fulfill consumer needs. To thrive, we must also satisfy the needs of all segments of the industry.

To satisfy the cow calf producer.

Easier fleshing, better doing cow herds that are more efficient in their resource utilization and better adapted to their environment will no longer be optional. Marginally productive cows, herds, and breeds will be eliminated from the production chain.

To satisfy the feedlots.

Gainability, feed conversion and good prior health and nutritional management will remain major keys to profitability.

To satisfy the packer.

Cattle that will consistently dress high and are predictable in their quality, yield and finished weight drive end point profitability. Carcass quality and yield will continue to drive the beef supply chain as more cattle will be harvested on grids with clear signals being sent up and down the supply chain.

To satisfy the beef consumer.

Consumers will continue to purchase tender, palatable and nutritious beef products that they have confidence in. New quick and easy to prepare products will continue to boost beef demand.

To maximize returns to all segments.

Both horizontal and vertical alliances in management, genetics and marketing programs will be mandatory. Transparency and data sharing within the alliance will lead to better, more effective management, marketing and genetic utilization, allowing better informed and profit motivated decision. Information within these alliances will be proprietary.
