Frequently Asked Questions
(Q) How do I sell my calves in
the P.R.E.P program?
(A) Contact Bill Pendergrass or if you have a feedyard preference from our participating yards, contact their Customer Service Rep., and let us know that you have Camp Cooley sired calves for sale.
(Q) What type of information do I need to have when I am ready to sell my calves?
(A) Basic deal making information, head counts, sex, base weights, shrink and most importantly
ASKING PRICE.
(Q) Will Camp Cooley guarantee me that they will
buy my calves?
(A) The P.R.E.P. program offers marketing options
on your calves, not a guaranteed buy back.
Camp Cooley, along with our cattle feeding partners,
compete for customer cattle every week.
Sometimes we get them bought, sometimes we
are out bid, however our customer can be assured
that if we don’t buy them, we made somebody else pay more money for them . . . we helped you capture the value.
(Q) If my calves come into the P.R.E.P. program, what type of data will I get back on them?
(A) Camp Cooley Beef prepares a Producer Consulting Report with detailed live performance and carcass data included. The valuable data is reviewed with the customer by Bill Pendergrass so that you can fully understand how to use the data to improve your cattle and marketing options as well. For calves that may go outside of the P.R.E.P. system, we cannot guarantee data.
(Q) What type of vaccinations and management
should our calves have?
(A) We prefer VAC-45 calves. If the calves are
not weaned and backgrounded, they need to
have at least 2 rounds of shots (21 days apart and close to weaning time). Feel free to visit with us about vaccinations.
(Q) If I have fewer than a pot load of calves can I still get involved?
(A) Yes, Camp Cooley will help you by getting
you in touch with Jordan Cattle Auction to participate in one of their Premium Feeder Calf Sales.
