Camp Cooley Ranch® Recognizes Cooperators

For Immediate Release

Franklin, TX - Camp Cooley Ranch®, Franklin, Texas hosted an awards dinner for their cooperators on March 4th in Houston, Texas. The award for the 2004 sale bulls were presented by Klaus Birkel, owner.

Camp Cooley Ranch® is home to registered Brangus, Angus and Charolais cattle and currently works with over 70 herds in 15 states in their cooperator program, that includes consulting, marketing, feedlot alliances, as well as other herd management services. These cooperator herds utilize Camp Cooley genetics and have access to the Camp Cooley Ranch® established alliances.

In the Spring 03 Born Brangus Bulls, 2B Cattle C., Cottonwood Falls, Kansas produced the highest ribeye area bull; 4L Farm, Lafayette, Tennessee produced the highest intramuscular fat and highest final weight bulls; and Bennett Brangus, Tennessee Colony, Texas received the award for the bull with the highest average daily gain.

In the Fall 03 Born Brangus Bulls, Four L again had the highest final weight bull, while KC Farms, Sale Creek, Tennessee had the highest average daily gain bull; Mutscher Brangus, Brenham, Texas produced the bull with the highest ribeye are and Grasshopper Hills, Jones Oklahoma received the highest intramuscular fat bull.

In the Spring 03 Born Angus bulls, Wellington Farms, Killen, Alabama had the highest final weight bull and tied for the highest ribeye area bull. Masterfare, Ltd., Johnston, Ohio produced the bulls with the highest intramuscular fat and average daily gain, as well as the co-winner of the highest ribeye area.

In the Fall Born 03 Angus Bulls, Masterfare again claimed the highest average daily gain winner, while Wellington also claimed the bull with the highest final weight. Big K Ranch Ltd., Ransom Canyon, Texas received the awards for producing the bulls with the highest ribeye area and highest intramuscular fat.

In the Charolais division all categories for the Spring and Fall 03 Born Bulls were awarded to bulls produced by M&M Charolais, Perry, Oklahoma.

In addition, GJ Brangus, Teague, Texas received “The Big Bull In The Pasture” Award, which recognized the cooperator with the highest average price with at least five bulls in the sale and “The High Dollar Bull” Award, which recognized the high selling cooperator bull in the sale. Plus GJ received the “CCR Direct” award as he raised the highest selling cooperator bull, whose sire and dam were directly purchased from Camp Cooley Ranch®.

Camp Cooley is the largest registered Brangus herd in the nation and also has joint venture herds internationally. In addition, they are the current Beef Improvement Seedstock Producer of the Year.
