Camp Cooley Ranch® Ranks As #3 Seedstock Operation

Franklin, TX - The National Cattlemen, the official publication of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) released its Direction List, which names the top seedstock, cow/calf, cattle feeding and beef packing operations.

Camp Cooley Ranch®, Franklin, Texas was listed as the third largest seedstock operator in the country, behind Montana’s Vermillion Ranches and Stevenson/Basin, Inc.

The list, which is compiled by Cattle-Fax resources, National Cattlemen, and Cattle-Fax, based the seedstock operation rankings on number of head marketed. Camp Cooley Ranch® is home to over 3,000 head of registered Brangus, Angus, and Charolais cattle, a large commercial cattle and hay operation as well as exotic wildlife.

In addition, the program offers extensive customer services. They have over 70 cooperators, representing 15 states and a wide range of marketing services, including a Customer Appreciation Sale are available to these registered producers, who utilize Camp Cooley genetics. Their Producer Return Enhancement Program (P.R.E.P) offers a full slate of services and marketing options for commercial calves and replacement females. They have established relationships for their customers with Irsik and Doll Feedyards, Hondo Creek Cattle Co., Sam Kane Beef Processors. McElhaney Cattle Co., and Brawley Beef, as well as Jordan Cattle Auction’s special sales.

Camp Cooley also has industry partnerships established with Purina Mills, Fort Dodge Animal Health and AgriLand to assist their customers in the areas of herd health, nutrition and financing.

It is owned by Klaus Birkel and Mark Cowan serves as president.
