Different By Design International Embryo Sale Makes History

Franklin, TX - Customers from the United States, Australia, South Africa, Argentina and Mexico took the opportunity to share the future of Camp Cooley genetics at the Different By Design Embryo Sale held Friday, September 7. This international embryo auction was the first in history of this magnitude for the purebred cattle industry.

Lot 1, three Bright Side 607L11 x 209P14 embryos, were the high-selling Brangus embryos purchased by Buck Thomason, Indian Hills Ranch, for $6,900. This same mating produced Robertson of Brinks 209S9.

The high-selling Charolais embryos, Lots 195 and 196, were purchased by H.A. Seeley, Ashwood Charolais, Victoria, Australia, and Stephen Pearce, Telpara Hills Stud, Queensland, Australia, for $1,300 per embryo respectively. Lot 195 consisted of three Schurrtop HCR Rancher x 1107M87 embryos and Lot 196 consisted of five Schurrtop HCR Rancher x 1107M87 embryos. This mating produced the third high-selling bull in the 2006 Camp Cooley Bull Sale at $10,000.

Santa Rosa Ranch, a new Brangus breeder from Navasota, Texas , was the North American Volume Dollar Buyer of the sale and won the trip for two to Australia hosted by Elders Breeding Service.

The Engeman Family Trust and Telpara Hills Stud, both from Queensland, Australia were the Australian Volume Dollar Buyers of the sale and each won a trip for two to the United States . They will be hosted by Camp Cooley Ranch and Ultimate Genetics.

The Different By Design Brangus Embryos averaged $557.81 on 829 embryos for a total of $462,425. The Charolais embryos averaged $453.02 on 497 embryos for a total of $225,150. The sale grossed $687,575.
