The following are Brangus mating suggestions/
comments from Ken Hughes, our Cowherd
Manager. Ken holds a wealth of knowledge but
more importantly, is with the cow herd daily and
his experience and suggestions can certainly
add value to your calf crop.

Leader – Will add bone, muscle, rib, flank, and moderate frame; watch underlines. |
| |

607L11 – Good on bone, can add muscle and rib with less frame; watch white. |

Lead Gun – Calves are small at birth but have lots of growth, rib, flank and muscle. Daughters
milk well; don’t breed to big, flat made cows or
frail made cows; will not add bone. |

Ditka – Calves will have lots of “type”, structural
soundness, testicles, and IMF. |
| |
Sonar – Low birth sire, will add scrotal circumference,
IMF; use on cows with muscle. |
| |
Blackhawk – Will add muscle, “type”, and
clean underline; breed to big middled cows. |
| |
Good Fortune – Will add fleshing ability, sires
moderate framed, nice uddered females, color is
good; can get extra birth weight if stacked in
cow side. |
| |
Tracker – Sires stout, really attractive type
calves with extra muscle, balance, bone; may
add a little frame; watch color.
| |
Sundance – Low birth weight sire; adds muscle;
reduces frame; nice udders on daughters;
watch testicles. |
| |
Nimitz – Good color; breeds a little more to
cow’s type. |
| |
| |
Bowden– Should add muscle and bone; color
should be good; average frame; out of really
consistent cow. |
